Get legally married in our marriage registry office, based in the sunny Adelaide suburb of Glenelg.
-
STEP 1
Download, print and complete the Notice of Intended Marriage.
Sign this document in the presence of an authorised witness.
The form gathers your personal details and is the first piece of legal documentation required for the marriage process.
-
STEP 2
Book and pay for your registry office wedding with us.
At the time of booking, you will need to upload a scanned copy of your Notice of Intended Marriage.
Dates can only be booked one month in advance to meet legal notice period requirements.
-
STEP 3
While you’re booking, you will also need to upload photos or scanned copies of your passports, birth certificates and drivers licences.
If you’ve been married before you will also need to upload photos or scans of your divorce certificate/order/decree or death certificate.
You’ll upload all of the above documents at the time of booking.

STEP 4
Get married!
Come along for your registry office wedding with your two witnesses to sign the paperwork. Bringing friends? That’s totally fine too!
After it’s all said and done, we will upload your paperwork to Birth, Deaths & Marriages. You will be required to order your Official Marriage Certificate, but we will give you some info on how to do this after!
Check out the below requirements to get married at the
SA Marriage Office.
YOU MUST GIVE ONE MONTH’S NOTICE TO GET MARRIED
Under the Marriage Act, you must provide your celebrant with one months notice of your intent to marry. This notice period is given once you submit your Notice of Intended Marriage to us. We won’t let you book until this has been done. There are some exceptional circumstances where you can apply to have the one month notice period shortened, so please contact us about your options.
YOU CAN’T ALREADY BE MARRIED
In Australia, you can’t marry someone when you are already married, even if the other marriage took place in another country. If your previous marriage ended by divorce, annulment or death, you need to show us evidence of this.
ARE YOU OVER 18?
It’s easiest if you are both aged 18 years or older. If one of you are 16 or 17, you must have a court order authorising the marriage and written parental consent.
ARE YOU RELATED TO EACH OTHER?
You can’t get married to your parent, grandparent, child, grandchild, brother or sister (including adopted siblings).
HAVE YOU GOT A PASSPORT OR BIRTH CERTIFICATE?
We need to verify your identity and your date/place of birth. If you have a passport, you don’t need to provide any other identification. If you don’t have a passport we will need to see your birth certificate and government issued photo ID. All documents must be in English or be professionally translated to English.
